OwnOral Care Recommendations
Oral care is foundational to your health. Below are some of my favorite resources for creating optimized oral health.
Ela Mint is unlike any other toothpaste, by design. It trades fluoride for nano-hydroxyapatite (n-Ha), an evolution in dentistry that’s been a gold standard in Japan for over 40-years. n-Ha makes up the primary foundation of teeth and bones, meaning it’s naturally restorative and helpful in reducing sensitivity. Plus, it’s 100% biocompatible and non-toxic. We complement this powerful ingredient with soothing aloe vera, bacteria-fighting xylitol, antioxidant-rich green tea and refreshing mint. It’s our way to address the “silent epidemic” in healthcare.
Rooting in Ayurvedic Medicine, oil pulling helps remove unwanted bacteria from your mouth. You can oil pull for 5-20 minutes each morning. Benefits I have noticed from oil pulling are fresher breath, lower plaque build up and whiter teeth. Simply swish 1-2 Tbsp of oil in your mouth and swish for desired length of time. As a general rule, the longer you oil pull the more toxins and bacteria are removed. Spit oil into trash (very important, do no swallow) and brush your teeth as normal.
The practice of tongue scraping is rooted in Ayurvedic Medicine. Scraping your tongue first thing in the morning before drinking water, removes build up on your tongue which overtime can prevent cavities, gum disease, and bad breath. You will notice overtime fresher breath and a healthier overall oral microbiome.
I know mouth taping seems strange and overboard. However mouth taping has been an incredible additional for the health of my mouth and quality of sleep. Your oral microbiome must be in balance in order for your gut microbiome to be in balance.
Mouth tape prevents dry mouth where the wrong type of bacteria can thrive. Mouth taping can help prevent snoring, lower blood pressure, allow your body to get into the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest), prevent sore throat, and nasal congestion.
I cannot recommend mouth taping enough! It is a simple practice with huge benefits. For addition oral health care information click here.
